Have had male hamster for over a month and today found black spot under fur on back. Has been scratching a lot since we got him. Spot is raised much like a mole on human skin. Time to go to the vet? Seems to be healthy in every other way. Please advise if your hamster has ever had this. Thank you much :)

I don't have experience w/ hamsters but I have pet rats. I've actually brought my pet rat to see a vet bcuz she had a tumor. I'd make an appt w/ a vet, but make sure its a vet w/ knowledge of small animals such as rats, hamsters etc. Some vets don't chg very much for small animals but ask first how much they would chg. My nice vet chgd me only $10.00 to put my pet rat to sleep. By the way, the girl who answered your ? saying ur crazy-she is very rude and mean spirited to reply like that. Good luck!

Skin Tags?
I have about 20 wart type things under my armpits on one and about 4 on the other and i have some like on my chest and they look alot like skin tags they keep popping up i think there are to much to be warts i don't know if they are though they are like my color skin and they look like a mole are they skin tags?

I was going to leave it until it got bigger and have it transplanted where my testicles was as I lost them and my bag from an accident really ! But the wife couldn't stand looking at it ,and it did irritate me, so I had it removed with a bunch of others. I am willing to say these are skin tags you have, and they are removed right in the dr's office with very little pain involved. The one under my arm was the worst where it was so large. I still get them, and I thought it was from my testosterone shots I take. But maybe not now that you have posted this. In any case I hope this has been of value to you . Have very Merry Christmas! I am a teenager with extremely fair skin, blonde hair, blue eyes. I have always have had a problem with freckles and moles, but lately my skin has been seeming to be even more sensitive than usual. I'll go to the beach for the day (with suncreen, hat, ect.) and wind up finding several new moles throughout the next few days. I have been nagging my mother to take me to the doctor, but it is obviously no concern to her.
I have this dark black mole on my leg, and recently by chance I scratched it. Well, hardly even that. I just kind of touched it with my fingernail. Now it's peeling off! Am I just freaking myself out, or is this serious?

Your mother should definitely take you to the dermatologist to have your moles checked. There are some guidelines that dermatologists go by when checking your moles.
Initial Diagnosis and Management
Consider RISK FACTORS - Family and/or personal history of melanoma (skin cancer), light complexion, tendency to freckle and/or burn easily, %26gt;50 acquired nevi (moles) and clinically atypical pigmented lesions (moles).
Clinical HISTORY - Change in size, shape or height of pigmented lesion (mole) especially if acute. Change in color of lesion (mole): lightening, darkening, redness, shades of blue, gray or black. Symptoms of itching, crusting, bleeding, erosion and ulceration.
Physical EXAM - Examine all pigmented or questionable lesions (moles) using ABCDE criteria: (A) Asymmetry (B) Border irregularity - notching, protrusions (C) Color variegation-generally gray to blue-black, but may have white, shades of red and brown (D) Diameter - most melanomas (skin cancers) are greater than 6 mm in diameter at time of diagnosis but this is not exclusionary (E) Elevation - many melanomas (skin cancers) have no elevation, may not be palpable, but a rapid change in elevation in an otherwise static lesion is suspicious. Remember to examine overlooked areas such as the scalp, palms and soles, nail folds, nail beds, conjunctiva and oral cavity for suspicious lesions.
Don't freak yourself out because they could be just benign growths (non cancerous). You definitely should go to the doctor to have them checked out because its better to be safe than sorry. Most insurances will cover at least 1 complete skin exam per year..you would just be responsible for the copay or deductible.

New moles?
i've noticed some really small moles appearing on my skin. probably the size of this period -%26gt;. haha well, could this be a bad thing? i barely go out in the sun, so what else could be the cause of these random moles?

I worried that they were not healthy and I ended up having 21 shave biopsies on them! Luckily they were all fine! The moles you are describing are not abnormal shape, size, or color, so they are perfectly normal! I believe hormones can bring on moles.. there may be other explanations too! Growing up my mother told me that my moles were "angel kisses".. I have never been embarrassed by them!

I'm someone who has 16 moles and a lot of freckles. If you are really worried then you should see a doctor to make sure it's nothing horrible. my dad had one on his nose that needed to be removed because apparently it was cancerous.

If there is a change in color, size, or if they become asymmetrical then go see a dermatologist. Even then don't be too worried. Mole development can also be genetic. See if your parents have several moles.

The brownish skin ramains at the place of the mole. Is this ok and will it go away with time?. Does any one else had this experience?

Reply:Sounds like they cut the mole off and then cauterized the wound it left behind. All that would have done is burn the skin to seal it up. The brown will go away in about a week or so.

skins are made of layers, and inside moles, are brown pigments. Your doctor probably lasered the majority off, but not all of them / deep enough.
You should wait a while longer and see, but if you can always go back to your doctor and ask.
Forgot to mention:
Moles are like icebergs - even if you remove the top layer, you won't be able to laser it off the last of it...

I have this loose piece of skin on my thigh, it looks like a mole but it is soft and I want to pull it off.?
