Hi there,
Thank you all in advance for your help.
I live in England and have recently read about mole removals and cancer. I have a mole (not the 'flat' ones but the sort of '3D' ones more of a beauty spot/birthmark) on my head and most times its covered by my hair. I just wanted more information on the possibility of removing this? Does the method of tying something around it so as to starve it of oxygen/blood work? Is it dangerous? Also if (God forbid) it turns out i have got cancer then how serious is this? What can be done?
Regards
Removing a Mole, and the dangers and long term affects of skin cancer?
I've had several moles removed. It was an outpatient, in the doctor's office kind of thing. They put anesthesic on the area and cut out the mole, but cauterized it. It didn't hurt. It was then biopsied, and luckily was not cancerous. If it is, the sooner you find out the better. Your doctor can tell you your options.

Kind of disgusting/embarrassing.. why do i get freckle-like moles wherever i "pop" black heads?
I have sensitive/fairish skin, but lately (in the past year), if i pop a blackhead i get a large freckle/mole in its place. Needless to say I am very apprehensive about doing that anymore, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me why before I see a dermatologist about it? I've asked my friends about it, but i'm the only one it happens to that I know of. They mainly develop around the outskirts of my face, but they're brownish and ugly. They are the same color as a mole I suppose, but they aren't raised above the skin at all. Why me!?!?!? Is there anything I can do? I know you're not "supposed" to pop stuff anyways...but still! Sometimes you feel like you have to.

You may need a scar cream, or a firming cream for your face. They are rather expensive, but they work wonders.
Reply:I don't know the answer to your question, so I would suggest asking your Dr or a Dermatologist, however, I just wanted to say, from personal experience, please do not get in the habit of squeezing blackheads or pimples. You will regret it. I started messing with my face over 10 years ago and I have scarred it bad. At first it was just occasional, but it has turned into a terrible OCD-like habit probably made worse by anxiety. I just don't want to see anyone fall into the same trap.

Small skin-colored benign skin lesion?
I have in the past had a small skin-colored bump, or raised area about the size of an average mole, come up under my eye, like in the soft, thinner skin right below my eyelashes. I went to a skin cancer clinic and he shaved it off. It wasn't anything malignant, but now, about 8 months later, another one is forming in the same general area (about half an inch away from the original site) with a tinier one next to it. I have called the skin cancer clinic to ask what the first one was in the first place, since all I ever got was a good report from pathology. Has anyone had anything like this before? I am in my early 40's and have very fair skin.
Small skin-colored benign skin lesion?
Cholesteatoma is usually in the ear.
It is best to get the original pathology report which you should be able to get. Try to call your doctor first. If they can't give it to you, get the phone number for that pathology lab. They can certainly give it to you (it is your report).
It could be squamous papilloma or skin tag which is benign. Both can recur.
It is still a good idea to have them excised and sent to the Pathology Lab again for diagnosis.
Good luck.
Reply:Cholesteatoma probably in that area.

I have a question about skin?
Question I have this thing on my face that is just really annoying to me, i don't know what it is called. It is kinda like the thing on Sarah Jessica Parker's face or Rebecca Gayheart but not as big, i wouldn't say it is a mole because it is the same color as my skin(pale) just it is raised, are there anyways to get rid of it like using merderma, injecting with corteson or using a kind of skin smoother cream/gel...

Does Skin cancer appear as a brown spot from a mole or can it just be appear with out a mole?
I can appear as a scaly spot or it may look like a bump. It can be in a brown mole or look like a freckle. It doesn't have one look so check your self often.
Does Skin cancer appear as a brown spot from a mole or can it just be appear with out a mole?
My dad had them and they look like a deformed mole, that has overgrown a little. And I agree with the other person, they looked scaly in a way. He had a few removed on his arms. SO WEAR sunblock!
Reply:Both
Remember anytime you have a lesion on your skin to look for the ABCDs
A stands for asymmetry. (One half of the mole doesn't match the other half)
B stands for border irregularity.Benign moles have nice smooth edges whereas melanoma are busily invading and tend to have irregular edges.
C stands for color. If the color is intensely black, possibly with a bluish tint, or the color is uneven across the mole, this is suspicious of a melanoma.
D stand for diameter. If the mole is greater than 6 mm (about the size of a pea), then there is a greater chance that it is malignant.
If the lesion has any of the following, or a previous lesion on your skin has gotten bigger- go to your dermatologist!
Reply:It can appear with or without a mole. Wear your sunscreen and don't get any sunburn.
Reply:without a mole also. But when it only appears it's like a raised mole with hole in the center but it can be flat go to a doctor if you have any questions. Skin cancer spreads rapidly and you don't want to take any changes.
Reply:...it can form from an existing mole/freckle or from a new one...i had a melanoma..i am 36...it got quite dark in color...got it checked at my local GP only for him to laugh at me and compare it to his really large birthmark....always get a 2nd opinion as i did..if i had of waited 6 more months it would have been too late....if anything...i mean anything looks suspicious you must get it checked by a skin specialist...its your life that on the line......good luck.

One thing about cancer is the manner in which it makes its appearance.
It can start as an ulcerative, or
proliferative, or invasive growth, which includes even the appearance of a blackish mole which may change in shape, colour over a period of months.
But whats your problem sir ?...maybe that you are having sleepless nights over a benign blackish mole .....Why dont you meet a specialist surgeon in person and get the opinion ? Maybe, a biopsy, if required, will give you a clear answer..right ?
Earler the better..right ?

Reply:I had skin cancer, basal cell carcinoma, on my face; there was never a mole involved, and it wasn't brown. It looked like a splotchy, red, flaky patch of skin. I didn't initially recognize my spot as being skin cancer, because I thought skin cancers were weird-looking moles. I thought it was excema or something until it kept growing and wouldn't go away with over-the-counter treatment. Mine looked very similar to this one: http://medicalimages.allrefer.com/large/...
Some kinds of skin cancer, such as cutaneous melanoma, appear with no "precursor," meaning there's no initial mole or mark; cutaneous melanoma shows up in a place on the skin where there was previously no mole. (One source for this information is listed below.)
However, the most common things that people with skin cancer report are still a "changing mole," or with BCC, a "wound that won't heal."

Remedys to get rid of mole like bumps not warts i think there skin tags on my lower part of my body?
anyone know what gets rid of skintags kinda hard bumps that grow like a mole but are seeming lee harmless but dont look good
Remedys to get rid of mole like bumps not warts i think there skin tags on my lower part of my body?
Skin tags are generally sliced off by a physician or else frozen off with a special chemical. Although unconventional, I have had much success with self-treatment by using OTC wart removal medication on mysterious spots and bumps. I would apply it daily, the skin will redden and look slightly raw, but after a week or two of daily application these "non-warts" have disappeared. But, maybe you should first check with a doc to make sure that they are benign.

If you had skin cancer, could you pick off your abnormal mole/growth and be cured?
Most likely not, most skin cancers are deeper than just the surface of the skin and then there is always the chance that the cancer has metastasized to another part of the body.
If you suspect skin cancer, please go see your dermatologist or GP ASAP.
If you had skin cancer, could you pick off your abnormal mole/growth and be cured?
No.
Reply:no, you need to be seen by a dermatologist and or oncologist.
Reply:no unless you can DIG the cancer out. moles are not just on the surface. i'd get a referal to a dermatologist asap especially if you think you have skin cancer.
Reply:I'm a medical student and i think i do know this question and the right answer. it really deplanes on how far the cancer has spread and what it had affected already. if you removed the mole and the cancer just started you would just need to go through medicines and more stuff. hope i helped for any other questions please write to me at sweethunnme@yahoo.com thats me email adress
Reply:no. there are several kinds of skin cancers. the bad ones spread through your blood vessels and even if you remove the growth that you actually see, the cancer is all over and you can't see it.
Reply:no, cancer spreads and a doctor has to do a very meticulous operation involving teeny tiny skin cells that are looked under a microscope.
my sister had skin cancer and they had to remove it from her face and it was just this white spot so...you never know. and the surgery lasted over three hours.
Reply:You have got to be kidding me! My father is dying of lung cancer, no, you cannot pick cancer off of yourself, you have to be kidding me. This is a seriously life-threatening disease. You have to treat it and take care of it. It will kill you if you don't. Picking a cancerous mole will make it grow back...
Reply:Not at all . It can go deep into the tissue ; and all the corners need to be removed . Sometimes it's possible for some of the carcinoma or melanoma to be missed during surgery unless you have the MOHS procedure by a dermatologist skilled in MOHS . A biopsy of the tissue will dictate if you need to return for more surgery . With the MOHS procedure , however , the biopsy is done before your surgery is complete - to be certain they have removed it all . There is no possible way for anyone to "pick off" cancer .
Reply:You theoretically could, IF the cancer was in a very early stage and you made sure to get ALL of it COMPLETELY...although at that point it is usually classified as "pre-cancerous". But simply "picking" it off isn't going to work, it's highly unlikely you would get all the abnormal cells by such a method, because a good portion of it is under the skin too (sort of like the difficulty squeezing a zit by hand to get ALL the crap out on the very first try).
Most likely what would happen is that you would create a wound with only half or less of the cancer cells removed...and that would also create a weak spot on your skin that would actually be more susceptible to spreading further infection, which would ultimately make the growth worse than before.
"Pre-cancerous" moles mean that it has already started to spread under the skin, but are still shallow enough to be frozen off or removed by laser. Anything "cancerous" requires surgery or more drastic measures, because it would be spread too deep beneath the skin to be removed by surface methods.

Have you been to your Dr. and have him/her a look at it to see if it's cancerous or not? Also the Dr would be the best to ask about the laser surgery too. All the best and good luck to you.
Reply:Here in the Philippines, there are lots of people engaging in laser surgery, and to my knowledge, there are very rare cases of acquiring skin damage.
If you really don't like the mole in you facem have it removed.
But if it doens't seem to have the need to remove it, then why bother removing it.
Reply:no high risk with laser may take more then 1 treatment but not painful and should not be a problem the laser center atpalm desert is good place to ck but go to several before you pick one .

why did you wait for it to grow that big? never do that in future, could be cancerous.
now head for your GP / SURGEON to first nip off a piece or remove the whole for histology or cell study by a pathologist. he will let you know whether or not it was a cancerous or benign growth before further action / advice can be decided upon.
Reply:There will definitely be a scar for a while, but chances are that it will heal nicely in time. Have it removed!

Talk to your doctor, and if you choose laser surgery, be sure to check their credentials. Don't opt for the spa surgery centers. Make sure they're certified and if possible check references, or Better Business Bureau

Unless it is the kind that produces hair (I have heard of some malicious ones), you might want to consider remaining "natural." There is certainly much more to you. However, if surgery it is, then I have seen very clean surgical NON-laser removal.
My gut feel just doesn't like the laser bit - and it seems to me that you feel uncomfy too. Listen to your heart.
Love yourself, darling! Forget the little things! Stay beautiful! :)
Reply:How big is it? Some moles are considered to be a beauty mark. There is always a chance of skin damage with surgery. Make sure that the doctor has a good reputation and he's not a quack. Also if you decide to do it pray really hard before going in and you'll be okay.

If i clip a skintag(exterior mole attached with a tiny piece of skin) is there anything i should be worried ab
If the skin tag is flesh tone, you can clip it off if you are careful. If pigment is darker than your skin color, see a doctor. DO NOT REMOVE IT as skin cancer should be ruled out just to be safe. Otherwise, put your clippers in boiling water for 10 minutes. Clean the skin with antibacterial soap. My husband gets skin tags on his face and I remove them. After I clean his skin I also use an alcohol swab on the clippers and the skin tags. After clipping I again use an alcohol swab. I use one of those square sterile bandages to apply pressure on any areas that might be bleeding after the tags are removed. I had one spot where the bleeding wasn't stopping and we used a steptic pencil on it. That did the job. Only use that if necessary. You don't want any chance of infection. If there are any signs of infection in the following days, see a doctor.
If i clip a skintag(exterior mole attached with a tiny piece of skin) is there anything i should be worried ab
bleeding i suppose. also sterilize your clippers so you don't infect it.
Reply:my mom had those!!! when i was little i would always pick @ them and she told me that she would get cancer if i pulled them off-to this day i think she told me that so i would'n't pick @ them but she recently bought some wort treatment (i know it's not for moles but still) and that helped!! they just came off!!!!
use that%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;don't pull it. ya never know. oh' and using the wort treatment, it came off in about 2 weeks.
Reply:I had mine checked and removed at the doctors, he said the little tags ,I could have done myself , sterile scissors and alcohol
Reply:It is fine, just clip it off and you will never know it was there. I ahd one and went to a doctor and he made a big deal out of oit and was goping to run some tests and then schedule out patient surgery. I got disgusted and cut it off. That was 12 years ago and I had forgotten the entire incident until reading your question. Just clean the area with alcohol and strelize whatever you are going to cut it off with.
Reply:Just keep it clean, use scissors cleaned with alcohol, wash the area well with soap and water and watch that it doesn't become red or irritated. Dermatologists no longer recommend cleaning with Hydrogen Peroxide unless you rinse it off afterwards (which you certainly can do), but you need to put somethin over it to keep it moist until it heals. My dermatologist just recommends Vaseline.

Don't know too much about the laser however if you want to hide the mole....Or the scar if you get one...Use Derma-blend make-up..They use it to hide port wine stains {strawberry birthmarks}...It can make tattoos "disappear too!"
Reply:always uncertainties, but can you live with the mole or even worse, does this make other people tell you to do the laser. do it because you want to not because anyone else says to. they may not know all the facts, discuss this with professional before you worry for nothing.
Reply:there is always a chance ( there's a chance money could fall from the sky ) but in all likely hood you will be just fine and have no problems.
my grandmother had a growth lasered from the bridge of her nose...it healed quickly and there was no scar.
get that mole removed girly! even if you wind up with a tiny scar that would look better than an ugly mole
Reply:Ask your dermatologist! Laser treatments have come a long way and i doubt you have anything to worry about. but if you are that afraid, do some research before you make a decision.
Reply:Not sure but i have 2 black moles on my face and I get so many compliments on it! I think they make me unique! Maybe you should accept that they are part of what makes you beautiful!
Reply:make sure is not cancerus...regarless " OFF WITH IT'S HEAD"
Reply:have it removed you will be fine
Reply:Um, I've had moles before and had them removed. One actually left a horrible scar that's INDENTED in my skin and looks worse than the mole did, and the other grew back. Ask your dermatologist before you make a decision, they can tell you better than I would if it's likely to grow back or leave a nasty scar. Hope this helps

I Have a flat black mole on my face any chance of skin damage with laser surgery need to know please?
Don't want to worry you but moles can't always be removed, as they can cause cancer (before you ask I'm a nurse)I've had a tiny one for about 25 years; being stupid I tried to cut it out myself. I've been stuck with what looks like a clump of blood blisters ever since.
Reply:With any surgery there is always the chance that something can go wrong. Laser surgery is no different. So, yes, there is a chance (although small) that you can suffer some skin damage from the procedure.

Does a post-skin biopsy wound normally look disgusting?
my husband had a skin biopsy (a scrape) on thursday of a small mole right where his back bends. He bled through 2 shirts and a jacket on the way home. The Dr. said no stitches were needed. Yesterday it bled, overnight it bled through clothes again. Today when I cleaned it out I noticed it's very swollen and pink around the edges (it's an eye-shaped crater in the skin), some of the new cells are growing in so it's a little yellow in the corner, but some of it looks blackish-green. I don't know if that's dried blood or an infection. It just looks horrible. But it doesn't smell. I was shocked when I opened the bandage the first day...but i've never seen this before.
So, is this normal for it to be such a gross open wound? Should she have stitched it?
Does a post-skin biopsy wound normally look disgusting?
Well, in that area where there is a lot of movement, one may have cut it out and stitched it, but usually with a scraping this maybe not necessary.
It is hard to get a decent pressure bandage over a scraping in the area you describe. The wound will heal, it will get little spots of fleshy growth over the area that will join together in time to form new skin. If it becomes painful (more painful) there may be infection, but usually lots of blood 'washes' away bugs.
So clean firm dressings, and if pain redness or other problems go back and get it checked.
Reply:Get a new Doctor, the one that did that is a Quack. The lesion should have been completely removed and the resulting incision would have been completely stitched closed. End of story.

I Have a flat black mole on my faces any chance of skin damage with laser surgery??? need to know please?
let me know everything before i go see a doctor
I Have a flat black mole on my faces any chance of skin damage with laser surgery??? need to know please?
actually its better to get it excised out. there is a risk for your mole to grow again with laser surgery. plus, excision is less risky. no radiation involved and its much cheaper. the surgery takes only less than 1 hour and its painless. its quite advisable for you to go to a certified clinic or hospital. once you have had it excised, you will get this small line of a scar over where your mole is. it will disappear in time, make sure you don't put any sort of make-up or moisturiser over it for at least 3 months after the surgery. prices for the removal of the mole depends on the size of the mole as well.
i should say that the most direct answer to your question should be, yes laser surgery may cause skin damage, especially when you go to one of those beauticians with no approval certificate. once theyve removed your mole, there is a huge chance, perhaps 70% chance that the skin will actually grow bigger and develop some kinda cyst-lookalike. might even get cancerous.
so yep. i think these are the only things i can think of right now... good luck n be very careful..
Reply:Consult a doctor. There's a procedure will they can burn it off with acid and that doesn't leave a mark. Good luck!
Reply:I think you should see a doctor for you to solve your problem

Better have a sample taken for cell study from time to time, to rule out cancer of the skin. Sometimes these benign moles turn cancerous.

If you do not have it removed by laser or surgical removal there is a change it can turn into a carcinoma (skin cancer)which is the most common type of cancer- so you may have to have it removed anyway...
Reply:I don't think you should get it lasered. I had one, and laser was not the way. I had it cut out. about a year ago. there is a little scar. but it is in a wrinkle. so not very noticable.

Does rubbing castor oil on moles help them fall off?
I read it once online ande i don't know if its bad for my skin. I want 2 try it w/ this small mole in between my nose and my upper lip. I wan't 2 know if it really works and that its safe. And I am 13, so do you think i am old enough to do this?
Does rubbing castor oil on moles help them fall off?
I have heard that it will work but have never tried it. As for harming. No. It is an oil. You can even take caster oil internally. My daddy and mother have both taken it. Yes, you are old enough. I would apply it at least 3 to 5 times a day--and keep trying it for maybe a month. It would be a cheap way to get rid of it. Good luck. Hope it works.
Reply:I don`t know about the castor oil, but to have one between your nose and upper lip is like a beauty mark. I would just leave it alone. You might like it when your about 17-18

Have a flat black mole on my face any chance of skin damage with laser surgery need to know please?
I've had a couple of moles removed for testing because of a family history of skin cancer. None of them were lasered. They were cut completely out down to the root--the doctor made a kind of cone-shaped incision and then put in lots of tiny invisible stitches. (Local anesthesia.) The scar is red for a few months and then fades to almost nothing--you can see the scar in just the right light and angle but other than that I don't even need make-up to cover it.
I had another one that had to be cauterized but it wasn't on my face--that made an ugly scar and 15 years later it's still white and puckered and shiny although not as prominent.
Definitely ask your surgeon about different options for removing the mole and what kinds of scars they will leave. It depends on your skin type too--my skin tends to scar easily and make those lumpy "keloid" scars so I have to be very careful about surgery and injury.
Reply:Talk to the surgeon before surgery. He will tell you all the risks and side effects.

What on earth is this....giving birth to moles with hair??
In medical vocabulary class, we were talking about women who think they're pregnant but they aren't, and someone said something about some women giving birth to a mole (like the kind that forms on your skin) with hair and teeth, babies that don't really look like babies, and babies with no bones in their bodies. What is that all about, and what causes it?
What on earth is this....giving birth to moles with hair??
this is a rare but serious birth defect. the child didn't develop correctly and can sometimes look like a hairy ball thing. the child may have formed teeth and hair but not lungs, eyes or anything else. usually these children are born dead or don't live but for a few days.

Embarrassed to ask however; concerns My skin. For some time now I get watch starts of?
very itchuy skin then little raised spots which then over the course of a month or so develops into a mole that looks like a wart on my skin. These are mostly confined to the upper part of my body. I have been to my Gp who seemed shrug it off without explanation and gave me coisterzone cream to rub it but this has not effect and does not stop the the cycle of these wart like oerruptions on my skin from appearing. Is it possible that I have viral infection in my blood stream? If so could it be cured with the appropriate treatment?
Embarrassed to try on bras in a shop in case I pass this on to other people.
Can anyone help please.... desparation calls for desparate measures.

If the first treatment a doctor prescribes does not work, you are perfectly entitled to go back and ask again. Doctors will go with the most common treatment first, but they expect you to come back if that is not working for you - they are not mindreaders!
Also, if he is not giving you enough explanation, ask - again, they are not mindreaders, and given they are so busy, sometimes they forget to fully explain.
Reply:Go to a dermatologist, it could be a lot of stuff, they will diagnose it. Do not hesitate.
Reply:You need to tell your GP to refer you to a dermatologist. What GPs know about skin you can write on the back of a stamp.
Reply:I agree, go back to your Doctor, say that you are concerned about the rash and you would like to be referred to the dermatologist. They shouldnt put up a fight about it, but if they do, go to a different GP!
It could be hives, my boss had them and it sounds similar. It doesnt sound like it would be contageous, but good to be cautious.
Go to your doctor! I hope it gets better for you :)
Reply:I believe that you may have a condition called Hidradenitis Supprativa. It is a condition of re-occurring boils/ cysts/abscesses , that are often misdiagnosed as ingrown hairs, herpes, being unclean and folliculitis. This is a newly diagnosed skin condition , but there is a lot of info out there.
Here is a link :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hidradeniti...
If this sounds like it might be you, READ it, PRINT it out, and TAKE it to your DOC.
Its better to try to start treatment soon, it can spread over the body if left untreated. These boils can become quite large and painful. Sometimes even lasting for weeks or months , do not attempt to POP them they can then tunnel under your skin and spread all over the body. Most common areas are armpits, groin, binkni line, inner legs, and intimate places and basically anywhere that sweats and rub against clothing. Stress is a big inducer.
There is some support groups at MSN , and yahoo, and I am open for questions!
I have had this for 8 years, I was misdiagnosed for a LONG time, It was very embarrassing, painful and scary. I am just trying to help out so you don’t have to wait as long as I did.

Laser mole removal?? I know it should be in skin conditions but know one was answering me.. please help me!?
So I am going to have a mole on my face removed by a laser next week. I'm pretty nervous because I don't know what they are going to do. What do they do when they remove a mole by a laser. Serious answers only. Thanks =D!
Laser mole removal?? I know it should be in skin conditions but know one was answering me.. please help me!?
Hey! Its okay! It depends on what kinda of method they use..but most likely they are just going to insert some pain killers, remove the mole, and then cauterize it which is basically using heat to close the veins so that it will quit bleeding. Some surgeons may use stitches but I dont think they will do it on you especially since its facial. I know it can be a little freaky, but hang in there it will all be okay. Especially after your unwanted mole is gone, right?
Take Care and Relax! :)
Reply:They freeze the area and cut it off with the laser. Ussually pretty quick and pretty painless. It will be red and swollen for a little while but there will be minimal scaring.
Reply:I'm not sure, my mom has had her froze off, I don't know about the laser mole removal, sorry.

I have a mole and it verry blak it looks like a star i never had it is it skin canser? and its black and red?
Go see a Dermatologist. They will remove the mole (it's not painful at all) and will send it to a lab. One week later they'll be able to tell you the results.
On the other hand, a Dermatologist may be able to tell you if there's an issue just by looking at it. It's also important if you have a history of cancer in your family.
Reply:go check with your doctor
Reply:You really need to go and have it checked out.
Reply:Especially if the border on your mole isn't clearly defined, you need to visit a dermatologist and have a biopsy taken. Hopefully it will be benign, but you should never take a risk if it looks suspicious.
Reply:Don't keep messing with it. See a skin doctor immediately in case it is a pre-cancerous growth. Skin cancer is nothing to mess with...
Reply:moles are light brown to dark brown. If a mole gets black go and see a Dr. Freckle's are light brown.
Reply:The only person who can difinatively diagnose this mole as a skin cancer would be a medical doctor. I would suggest seeing one soon so that if it needs to be removed it can be done while it is small.
Reply:i have worked in a dermatology office for 2yrs...when someone has a mole and they notice a color diffrence or it changing form its best u make an appointment as soon as u can to get it tested to see if it is or isn't skin cancer. its good that u realized this right away because it seems to me that u might have caught this mole at its very first stage at possibly becoming cancer...AGAIN I AM NOT TELLING YOU THAT IT IS CANCER BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW PLEASE BE AWARE OF THAT...the sooner u get a scrap of that mole off to the lab the sooner u will find out, or u could also depending on what the doctor tells you you might even be able to get it removed that same visit.
Reply:If in doubt, check it out. See a dermatologist and have it removed, it is fast and easy and does not hurt at all, they will biopsy the mole and let you know.Don't ever mess with a suspicious mole
Reply:It is discolored and irregluar shape ( borders) so YES got o a dermatologist NOW!

I want to remove my skin-tag from my neck..?
I think it's called a skin-tag! It looks a bit like a mole. Does anyone have any safe advice on how to remove it myself?
I want to remove my skin-tag from my neck..?
Your Guide to Skin Tags
As we grow older, different growths and spots start coming out of skin. Skin tags are one such product of aging. The exact cause of skin tags is not known. They are also known as Acrochordons.
How Do They Look?
Skin tags look like small growths hanging with a stalk. These fleshy bumps are ugly in appearance and cause more of mental discomfort than physical.
Where Do They Appear?
Skin tags appear at different places such as neckline, below the breasts, underarms, and groin. They may also appear at different sites on the body.
Size:
They normally form in cluster of small tags of about 0.1 cm to big ones measuring up to 1 cm.
Removal:
If you can live with them, then it is ok. Otherwise, consult your doctor, who will remove them by one of the following methods.
* Surgically cutting them
* By freezing them
* By electro surgery
* By tying a suture around the stalk
The tag removal does not cause scar problem and the healing is over in a day or two. If you have keloid-forming tendency, your doctor may not remove the tags.

Reply:i think its a wart. you can get rid of it through laser.
Reply:Haven't tried it, but i've head you can paint it with clear nail polish for several days and it will dry up and fall off.
Reply:I had a skin tag like that on my neck too. My mom is a nurse and she brought home a pair of surgical scissors(because they are sterile), cleaned my skin tag with alcohol, and cut it off. It bled for a few minutes, but then it quit and I have never had one come back. You could probably cut it off if you know someone who can get you a pair of surgical scissors.
Reply:A safe, natural method is garlic. A fresh, small sliver placed on the tag and covered with a bandaid. Do this a night and remove in the morning. Repeat until the tag falls off. Usually takes less than 5 days.
Garlic is strong, so keep it off the surrounding skin.

Help!!!! Anyone have a remedy for skin tags??
I have these horrible skin tags that grow under my arms, on my neck, etc. They are pieces of skin that hang and look kinda like a mole but sometimes way bigger and hang. I have went to a dermatologist and had them removed before only to have them resurface. I have tried wart remover and bunion remover. Does anyone have anything I can do?? Thanks
Help!!!! Anyone have a remedy for skin tags??
I have had them too my doctor had a can of acid???? he sprayed them it was real cold mist it didn't hurt and they fell off a couple days later!!!!!!! mine haven't come back
Reply:cigarette lighter, or a dremel tool
Reply:im the exact same way id jsut keep removing them until they dont come back
Reply:i dont know about this one go to your doctor again try a new one
Reply:Dermatologists can cut them off.. part of the age process .. ?
Reply:You can go to your doctor and have them removed. They either freeze them or cut them off.
Reply:these yukky things do require constant maintenance! I know as I get them too! I always get my beautician to take them off - I know they do resurface sometimes but its better to be proactive in taking them off again rather than finding someone staring at them on the train or something if you know what I mean?.....
Reply:Tie a piece of string around them. They will eventually die, and you can clip them off.
Reply:i get those i clip them off with a nail clipper. it bleeds a bit, but the skin tag is gone. I do not feel pain anyway so doesn't bother me.

I have reddish pink spots on some areas of my skin. What are they?
They look like moles but they aren't the same color...please help. Should I get it checked by the doctor? Does this mean I might have skin cancer or leukemia? The spots are about 1 millimeter long.
I have reddish pink spots on some areas of my skin. What are they?
you should always use sunscreen before going out. they can prevent from skin cancer
every time ur out in the sun ur getting hit by uva and uvb rays. every second theyre damaging ur skin
sounds like a symptom for skin cancer
you really need to see a doctor.
Reply:could be measles
Reply:I used to have similar spots on me. The doctor told me that when you're body is trying to fight off a virus or bacteria of some kind, it may try to come out through the skin.
Now, that was my case. To be sure, go to the doctor.
Reply:You may want to get it checked out by a doctor, just to be on the safe side.
Reply:How long has your dad had them? If he's ahd them for a while, and he hasn't had any other symptoms, I'm guessing it isn't sun cancer.
Luekemia is a cancer of the bone marrow and blod cells, so besides the rash, you don't have any other leukemia symptoms. Rule that out.
Maybe, sicne you say you're out in the sun alot, you may just have moles. Your skin pigment may cause the different colours.
To be sure, check with your doctor. :)
Reply:Could be tenia veriscolor. Do a yahoo image seacrh on tenia versicolor and see if the spots look like yours. I had this before its actually normal. It can be treated.

I'm a white 22 yr old, and I have a few moles on my face and I get a red T-zone. I've tried concealer, but I'd rather get the root of the problem so my skin looks good naturally. What are your daily regimes and what tips do you have for me? Any help much appreciated.

Who/What should I blame for my pale skin complexion - God, genetics, my parents?
I think it all comes to blaming God for this bullcrap. Think about it, he created genetics and ultimately created all of us. I have pale skin and now I have to go tanning to make it darker to fit in with other people. I'll never live the model life that I want to. For all you religious pieces of sh** - why does God have to create people in HIS image rather than the image we want? Now I'm going to have to work for plastic surgery and pay dermatologists to cut off moles that could be cancer. Thanks a frickin lot God.

"For GOD so loved the world that he gave his only beggotten son that whoso ever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life".So ask JESUS to be ur saviour and forgive ur sins and cleanse ur life.

I don't know if this could be skin cancer....?
I have had two moles removed about two or three years ago, one on my right breast, one on my neck. The one on my breast came back, but only half as big. I also keep getting zits on my back and shoulders every once in a while that turn into raised freckles. When i ask my doctor she says she'll check them next time but we never have because eithr i forget or she does. I don't know if breast or skin cancer runs in my family because i'm adopted, can anyone help me out please!
I don't know if this could be skin cancer....?
Honestly, its better you consult a specialist. I really want to help but I don't think I can give better answers than specialist do. Sorry.

Reply:If the mole is misshapen or discolored you should have the doctor biopsy it just to make sure. The pimples on your back and shoulders may just be that. The best thing to do if you are worried about skin cancer is to use a high SPF sun screen if you are going to be in the sun for a long time and to wear clothes that will cover exposed areas.

Can you die from skin cancer? i dont mean like a mole etc. I mean from going to the tanning salon.?
what type of cancer will going to a tanning salon/sun etc give you and will you die from it?
Can you die from skin cancer? i dont mean like a mole etc. I mean from going to the tanning salon.?
tanning salons have UV lights. Remember when you go to the beach and use sun tan oil with a UV filter? Well you use it because UV light is harmful to the skin if exposed for a long period of time. It can cause skin cancer and any kind of cancer can be lethal
Reply:you can get skin cancer from constant UV exposure. Skin cancer can kill you. Try the spray tan.
Reply:Tanning salons can lead to cancerous moles (aka melanoma or skin cancer) - so stay away from them if you can.
Reply:You can die from skin cancer from a tanning bed %26amp; If you have any weird moles I would get them checked by a dermatologist
Reply:skin cancer/melanona and yes you can die from it
Reply:Yes you can- the cancer will start on your skin, and spread to your insides.
Reply:yes you will, it doesnt have to be a mole but sun exposure can make a mole turn cancrous, Malignant Melanoma kills. so stop tanning, its going to make you wrinkled and old if not worse.
Reply:yes, and moles can be cancerous.
Reply:If you were to leg it go and do nothing about it, yes. However, it's easy to remove and usually doesn't require chemo. Tanning salons can cause skin problems. I wouldn't be surprised it could cause skin cancer.
Reply:Yes, you can. I have heard of people that tanned a ton and all, got skin cancer and died.
Reply:Yes, you shouldn't tan too much.. Well at all really.. But yeah you can.
Reply:You can get all three types of skin cancers and last two of them may kill you.

Flavor of Love - What's wrong with that chick's skin?
What are those nasty looking welts on Deeelishis' skin? It just grosses me out to look at those things. They are all over her arms, back and chest. What the heck are they? Doesn't Flava get grossed out looking at those things? And, have you seen her without her makeup on? She's got those huge black moles all over her face.... Gross! She is so ugly to me... The only redeeming quality about her is her perfectly round butt. However, I don't see how anyone could look passed her ugly face to get to that butt.
But, anyway, what are those nasty welts on her skin? What caused that? Does she have a disease?
Flavor of Love - What's wrong with that chick's skin?
oh so you dont really watch the show much?
this is overdiscussed
she said she was in a car accident
Reply:She was in a car accident. Always remember it isnt the outside that counts, its the inside. She seemed like a genuine person. Cant wait for the reunion show Sunday nite!!!!
Reply:Deelishis was in a serious car accident and she almost died. What she has on her skin is called Keloids. Keloids are an overgrowth of scar tissue at the site of a healed skin injury.
When you are deeply scarred your skin can sometimes heal this way. It can happen to anyone.
Deelishis could have had them removed but she chooses to keep the scars as a reminder of her near-death experience and how important it is to value life.
Reply:WOW. Once again it really amazes me how ignorant people can make themselves seem on yahoo answers. Those so called 'nasty' welts are scars left from her car accident a few years back. She was going to get them removed but she wants them kept as a reminder of how god saved her from death. You say that shes ugly. What about you? If you have the mind to call someone ugly than you probably arent that good looking yourself. It seems to be that way. 'The only redeeming quality about her is her..." quoted from you. Once again WOW, who are you to judge someone whom you dont even know. Judging someone from a tv show, you dont know how she really is. You sound real ignorant. You really do. You also say you dont get how anyone could get pass the face to her butt, omg Im cracking up laughing at your ignorance right now. I really am man. Some people arent simple minded enough to judge someone on how they look. If they do than I feel pure pity towards them that they would do that and not get to know the real person. Also, I know alot of people who think she looks good. You seriously need to get past that simple mindness, jealousy, or whatever the heck your problem is and learn that you arent perfect either.
This is my opinion also. Im just speaking the truth. If its too hard for you to face dont bother emailing me a 'hate' message. Doing that will just prove my point.
Thanks for the laughther and goodbye!

I have tiny brown spots on my skin, really pale ones, on my forehead and nose?
I have never had freckles, or moles to speak, but I think they are the beginning of 'age' spots. Is there a natural formula to get rid of them? I have a book by Dr. Periicone, ... and he says the skin needs Vit Ester C, and Retinol (a) but I'm wondering if there is a simpler more natural applications, as number one... I hate to sort through all the thousands of beauty products out there, and two, the one I want are way too expensive... any advice? P.S. what I think caused it is wearing neutrogena retinol creme at night, and then going in the sun, here is the catch. I used frickin' Neutrogena's high SPF, but the crap does not work or something... because I have these spots, and also, I am just mad about it. there is no 'irregular' shapes, unhealling wounds or anything to indicate cancer, and some of my aunts have these spots, but I don't want them so soon, they will get darker and darker so help now. PS I DONT WANT TO USE hydroquinone, the bleaching creme, as that is not cool

You don't say how old you are, but I get the feeling that you are too young for age spots. They sound like freckles to me; Freckles are a sign of sun damage and will get darker with increased exposure to the sun. Your primary defense against freckles and further sun damage is sun block. Whenever you are outside, use at least an SPF 15. You may have to reapply it several times during the day, especially if you sweat or touch your face a lot.
I don't think that any of those creams really help much. Most of what you put on the skin doesn't penetrate the skin. Best to take care of your skin from the inside out. Eat well, drink lots of water and get plenty of rest. Use sunblock. If the freckles bother you, put on a light foundation or powder.

Do i have skin cancer?
I have this brown mark almost like a mole but its really smooth on the skin and i have no sun exposure at all
Do i have skin cancer?
Usually skin cancer is a mole or spot that is bumpy, scaley, scabs that don't heal and it usually grows. I know several people with different types of skin cancer and I have seen them but I am still not a doctor.
A brown spot on your arm, or body could be a sun or age spot no matter how old you are or how little sun you have had.
Just have it checked out to be on the safe side and watch it closely. I bet it's not skin cancer, but better safe than sorry.
Reply:I think I have something similar but I asked a medical professional not yahoo answers. You need to be safe instead of sorry and just ask the doctor about it. Even a family doctor knows what to look for and if they dont know they can lead you to experts that do.

Ok I just got back from the doctor and in a month I have to go back to get 2 moles biopsied..He said the one?
small one I have has different colors in it. Then the other one he just wants to look at better. I said so if I have skin cancer then what..He says we will have to see. Ok I am freaking out I am a 27 yr old mother of two. So my question is, is there anyone that has had skin cancer and what treatment did you have? Am I gonna die from this? These 2 moles that I have I have had for about 3 yrs.
Ok I just got back from the doctor and in a month I have to go back to get 2 moles biopsied..He said the one?
Treatment for most skin cancers are to remove the mole and follow up dermatologist visits with no treatments. Also, if the doctor is going to wait a month, I presume he is just being cautious. If it was really serious, he would have made the biopsy test done right away. I am currently fighting melanoma cancer now. I hope do not need futher assistance, but I will be glad to help you in anyway I can.
Reply:There are several types of skin cancer but only one type that is deadly (melanoma). So, don't' worry about it until you know for sure. If it's not a melanoma then the doctor will just remove it and you'll be fine. If it is a melanoma then it depends on how advanced the cancer is and whether or not it has spread. There are many treatments for it and survival rates are much better now than 20 years ago.
Reply:maybe not if your in time that kind of cancer is outside maybe you could try alternative medicine.but do not leave your normal treatment, you could use the plant name aloe vera, you cut the pulp, put on the fire for 30-60 seconds and then aply direct to the mole, this thing consist how muchhot you could resist the aplication,do not burn your skin.just aply the time you could resist the hot.

I want my tan skin back =(?
I'm italian so i get SO dark in the summer. i look way better that way and my eyes turn bright blue. I really am not into the whole tanning bed thing because i have some moles on my body and i don't want to get melanoma and wrinkles at age 30. I turn so pale in the winter and i just look gross. what kind of products can i use to restore my dark skin color (not gross orange). nothing that smells, streaks, or is fake looking. thanks in advance!
give me some links! and also will spray tanning make me orange!? i would do that..
I want my tan skin back =(?
I work in the tanning industry:
Firstly, spray tans (mystic, versa spa, magic tan etc....) are messy and are not goof proof and rather costly! Not to mention it tends to smell terrible!
Bed Tanning..... NOT all beds are terrible for you. 99% of salons only carry low pressure beds which contain around 3+% of UVB which the most damaging bed style however gives quick great color.
For you though, I suggest a High Pressure bed which contains less the 1% UVB! So it is mearly impossible to burn you or cause major skin damange.
Natural sun light emits anywhere from 3-4% uvb depending on your location on earth. A high pressure is well below that, and high pressure beds tend to be 20 min sessions because high pressure bulbs cannot be laid on so you have to flip thus figure it 10 mins a side. Figure tanning in your bed basically because your laying on a mattress in the bed.
I'd recommend a bronzer/indoor tanning accelerator also, which contains DHA which is basically a self tanner that developes up to 8 hours after tanning. No it does not appear orange or streak well MOST dont!
Now High Pressure beds are NOT ment to be used frequently, i suggest once maybe twice a week tops and that should solve your problem!
Reply:jergens tan skin moisturizer. that is the best for not getting orange. go to wal-mart, you can get it for cheap.
otherwise, spray tan works well, just don't exfoliate or u will get streaks!!!! good lucl =)

Best foundation to even out skin tone, but still look natural?
Lately, I have been looking for a good foundation. I have tried Bare Escentuals, but it didn't seem to work for me because I need more coverage. I have medium-light skin most places on my face,(i'm darker near my forehead), but I have many freckles and moles also. I know that it is kind of impossible to effectively cover all of them, so I just want a foundation to make them not so noticable. I have found that liquid foundation seems to work better for me than powder. I am not very prone to breakouts, but I am looking for something preferably water based and not too "caked-on" looking. Thanks.

Bobbi Brown. Rated #1 in the world in the Foundations category. It goes on like a second skin. The shades match perfectly, and it feels superlight, yet gives AWESOME coverage. MAC is good, and so is Prescriptives. Good Luck!

Do I have skin cancer?
Close to a year ago, I noticed a small flat but SLIGHTLY raised tan/brown spot on my hip. It grew, not really in size but became raised and red. It doesn't hurt, itch, or bother me at all. I now notice that close to that area, I have a similar flatter spot near that same area. Should I be worried? Is this normal? Do moles develop in adults? Is it common for a few to develop in the same area?? I am a 27 woman, feel fine otherwise and skin cancer does not run in my family. I have an appointment next week but would appreciate any USEFUL insight anyone could provide.
Thanks.
Do I have skin cancer?
Moles do develop in adults - frequently. However, whatever is on your back does need evaluation by a dermatologist (not just your family physician) because it has changed color and because there are two similar spots. I would not be worried but I would see a dermatologist. While you are there have the Dr examine your entire body for potential skin cancers. Melanoma can be anywhere on the skin surface including in the mouth or between your toes.

There are whole textbooks of skin diseases so best thing is to try %26amp; not second guess %26amp; worry. You have an appointment so you are doing the right thing. The american cancer society web has lots of good general info. Good luck

Reply:if the mole is irregular in shape, weird colors or rapidly growing than you should be worried a bit but even then you cant be for sure its cancer. Moles can develope on adults thats not a concern. Going to the doctor is a smart move, you can never be too safe... good luck!
Reply:"The most common types of skin cancer are basal cell carcinomas (70% of all skin cancers) and squamous cell carcinomas (20%). Melanoma is a third type (5%0 potentially more serious.
Basal cell carcinoma typically appears as a small raised bump that has a pearly appearance. It is most commonly seen on areas of the skin that have received excessive sun exposure. The cancer does not usually metastasise or spread to other parts of the body.
Squamous cell carcinoma seen on areas of the body that have been exposed to excessive sun (nose, lower lip, hands and forehead). Often this cancer appears as a firm red bump or ulceration of the skin that does not heal. Squamous cell carcinomas can spread to lymph nodes in the area. "

Reply:I was diagnosed with skin cancer (malignant melanoma) there are 2 other types which spread locally. To trully know what it is a biopsy should be done and try not to stress until you have the results...I know, easier said then done...best of luck to you.

Question about the skin around my penis.?
Around the 'shaft' of my penis, there seems to be some weird imperfections in my skin. What worries most is there seems to be a mini-sack type thing that is sort of directly under. It's very very small, and a normal person wouldn't even notice, but I did because I shower.
There also seems to be two weird black dots that are also very small, but still sort of go upwards? Pretty sure they aren't moles.
And I am just going to assume they are not STDs, I have never had sex, nor do my parents have any STD history.
Sorry if I'm not giving enough information, but I just don't really know how to describe it. Is it worth getting checked out?
Question about the skin around my penis.?
You've obviously puzzled all of us. You don't say how long these conditions have persisted, but if it's very recent, just wait a couple of weeks, and chances are it will clear up on its own. If things keep developing, though, with continuing changes, you might want to ask your doctor about it. Chances are it's something benign like an allergy, but for your own peace of mind, ask if it gets worse over a period of weeks.
Good luck!
Reply:if you are bothered, go get a circumcission. it is hygiienic on the part of the male. you will less prone to catch std or penile cancer. once you are circumcised you will really feel clean about yourself (genital area).

How can i make my skin glowing?
i am wheatish in color, my face is not clear it has little black moles and black heads, nothing is working on it? pls give solutions for clear and glowing skin
How can i make my skin glowing?
use alomond pack or make it at home crush almonds and put a little milk in it make a paste apply and then scrub i off u will see the difference..goodluck.
or if not then use redience creams which easily available in the maket like oil of olay radiance crm..etc
Reply:they have these nice 'glow-on' stickers in the market... have u tried them yet? (lol)
Reply:Get a job at "Chernoble", you'll GLOW !
Reply:move away from the nuclear power plant
Reply:this won't clear it but it will make you glow. use Physicians Formula pearls of perfection highlighter. it has fine shimmery stuff in it. it is very pretty. also try the mineral makeup in the same brand. it covers very well and it is good for your skin. both are powders. i don't recommend using liquid makeup. it makes you break out more.
Reply:oil control formulas and bleaches may help you...tu bhi bhartiya hai to wheatish is a good color only try to keep ur skin clean of acne using creams like erytop, bhartiya log skin nahi dil dekhte hai
Reply:It's gonna hurt, but rubbing alchohol works pretty well on clearing up your face.
Reply:gentle exfoliation will help remove your black heads but be carful not to scrub at your moles . a tinted moisturiser or glow stick or some bronzing beads will help your skin to glow maybe try fake tan to brighten your skin and apply some bronzer for a sun kissed look ?
as far as clear skin goes you need to find a product that works for you tea tree oil and witch hazel based products are very good for spot prone skin
i hope that helps
Reply:You will have to do a few things for this. First of all, drink a lot of water, atleast 3 bottles everyday. Use cleansing milk and a scrub to clean your face and then apply a night cream (I really love Night of Olay) before you go to sleep. Depending on your choice, either use a day-cream or a fairness lotion during the day. Keep your skin clean throughout the day, by occasionally using a tissue. For acne, use any off-the-shelf anti-acne cream and for blackheads, use a blackhead remover. The scrub is also good for this. All this will definitely show results in a week.
Good luck!

What does skin cancer look like when it starts?
throughout my life i have had maybe 2-3 moles on my entire body and recently i have noticed that i am covered in them. additionally i have also noticed about 3-4 tiny white circles appearing on my arms and other parts of my body. i have used sunbeds for about 14 years on a regular basis. Has anyone got any ideas except go to the doctors, i fear that if i go to the doctors they may feel that i am wasting their time as i usually whittle about the most silly things. Does anyone even know what skin cancer even looks like?
What does skin cancer look like when it starts?
Those white circles you are describing is most likely a fungal skin infection that is very common among sunbed users. My friend had this last year and it was quite unsightly as it showed up against her tan. She had to have antibiotic cream for some time and was advised against using sunbeds.
If you have moles then you really are taking a serious gamble with your life. It may be great to have a tan but at what cost? Is your life worth having a tan?
Any changes in moles should be examined by a doctor and a dermatologist to rule out skin cancer.

Reply:Sorry, but you really need to go and see a doctor, if only for your own peace of mind. No doctor would think you were wasting their time when you take genuine concerns to them. If you fear going to the doctor because you may get unwanted news, you need to overcome that - perhaps go with a friend or relative - and get yourself checked out. If there is a problem, the sooner it can be addressed the better. If there is no problem you will be able to stop worrying.
Good luck!
Reply:well firstly you need 2 ask yourself if you are a tanaholic? they normally start of as being moles but different to the other moles you ever had or seen then they spread out and change the colour of the skin.. hope the helped
Reply:You are not wasting your time by seeing a dermatologist to get all of your moles looked at. Especially in view of the fact that you regularly use a tanning bed and greatly increase your risk of skin cancer. Usually skin cancer is a mole that has changed size, shape or color. You should regularly have you moles looked by a doc though to be sure they are ok. Also if you are still using a tanning bed you should consider switching to a spray on tan at a salon as cancer doesn't care if you are a teenager or an old person and it is often deadly if not caught in time.
Reply:Like most cancers it's very difficult to diagnose with the naked eye. Skin cancers can very. So if you notice any changes see your doctor asap. Many people leave it to late and cannot be cured. Better safe than sorry.
Reply:my unncle had just a little spot on his back, and it was a little bit sore. he went to the docs and it turned out to be cancerous. he's now dead bless him.
Reply:Sun beds are a no-no; you may have damaged your skin after years of using them. they also age you. You must get advice on the moles, all of them. Your GP will refer you to a specialist. The tiny white circles MAY be pigment spots; but why don't you stop guessing and see a doctor?
The moles may be fine; but what you need to worry about is the rogue moles - the ones that may be melanoma - an extremely serious form of skin cancer. Look after yourself. No doctor is going to feel you are wasting his time; in fact, you will be taken very seriously.
Reply:yes skin cancer is usualy black or realy dark brown not white dont think you got to worry about that but i would go see what it is good luck
Reply:It would be best if you went to a dermatologist to have him check your body for moles, etc. I had skin cancer on my finger where I always wore a real gold ring. At first I thought it was from dish detergent but it looked like a rash that would get crusted and then the crusts would fall off and it would crust over again and again. It really didn't look that bad but I went to the dermatologist and it was cancer. He took it off and it is OK now.

Could my mother's concerns be correct?(Skin Cancer)?
About 5 years ago I developed this "rash" of reddish brown spots that only seems to come around when the weather is hot. It's on my neck and shoulders and is almost barely noticeable. The dermatologist said it was Tinea Versicolor (or basically just a simple skin change, nothing more to worry about). Well, I have these freckles there and I noticed today in the shower that this one that used to be a circle is sort of jagged in shape and is red and brown. There are a few more on my shoulders, too. I also have these two moles on my right foot that started out as freckles, and my mom said that given the fact that they turned into moles and are so dark, I need to get checked out. She keeps stressing that I really should have them looked at, especially the ones on my shoulders. She had cancer in her foot but it was taken out and beaten easily. Could she be right?

if a mole or freckle changes shape, size, color, or develops jagged edges, you need to get it checked. especially if you lay out in the sun, or you have family history. just get it checked. it could be nothing. if it's something, then you catch it early.
Reply:im not sure but it sounds serious get it checked asap!! inshallah we will pray for you
Reply:Go to a DR and find out the longer you wait the less time is on your side.
Reply:I would get it checked by an Dermatologist.
Reply:Did you get adequate treatment for you fungus infection. Sound like a recurrence.
Reply:Yes, you need to have this checked by a doctor. Skin cancer can happen in any spot on the body and does not need to be exposed to the sun. Skin cancer has been known to appear on the bottoms of a foot. So it is important to have this examined by a dermatolgist as soon as possible. Skin cancer is treatable and curable in the early stages.

Reply:The only way to be sure is to go to another doctor, as in get a second opinion. One doctor may only be checking certain criteria, while another might decide to check in other areas that might be causing your problem. One doctor is just one opinion, three doctors opinions will give you a much broader range of information. If all three tell you basically the same thing, then you can be sure that what you're being told is the source of your problem. Don't ever be afraid of checking with another doctor, even if the one you're seeing now is your family physician, or a long time family doctor. Tell the doctor(s) everything that you know about what is happening with your condition, because the more information you can give them, the easier it will be for them to decide what to check on.
Reply:Tinea Versicolor is very common, (skin fungus) which is contacted from swimming in a contaminated waters and sun. It will never go away and will always reappear in warmer weather. Best treatment is Versiclear Lotion from Hope Pharmaceuticals (requires a doctors prescription).
The other spots sound worry some and I recommend you see a dermatologist and get them checked and removed as soon as possible. Don't ponder this, get them checked.
