Can you get skin cancer from one or two sunburns recently?

My legs were sun burnt recently and a a lot of my skin pores are red. A couple pores look like small moles. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks!

Can you get skin cancer from one or two sunburns recently?
See a dermatologist. I was recently diagnosed with melanoma, and it is something that can be treated well if caught early, but can be very dangerous, if left untreated... it can spread to nearby lymph nodes, and other body organs. Get it checked out!!

God Bless!
Reply:No but you will increase the chances stay away from the sun
Reply:Yes, you can. But what you are describing looks more like a sunburn. Anyway, keep an eye on those moles and if they grow or change their appearance go and see your doctor.
Reply:Getting sunburns do increase your chances of getting skin cancer. It wouldn't show up quickly, and you should protect these areas with sunscreen, and the other areas of your skin to prevent skin cancer.
Reply:the sun burn would have to be VERY BAD..but not all the time.

and malignant moles are not small, there are rather large, about half the size of a dime...and are usually, light pink, white, black, maybe green.

cancer from a sunburn will not just appear and spread in the corse of a week or 2....once the sun burn goes away...which should be about 3-5 days....let the skin peel off....about 2 weeks after that, if you still have sun spots, go have one scraped and checked....

it sounds to me like you have sun blisters....which go away in about a week...

take my advice for what its worth, as i am not a doctor or nurse.
Reply:I feel when your body is showing that something is not right that then it is a good idea to go to the doctor. I think it varies from one person to the other when or if they will get skin cancer. Although we do know how to prevent our skin from damage. We know that the sun is not good for the skin at all!! I don't know about you but when I get too much sun exposure my skin doesn't only hurt but I don't feel well at all. I think it is a great idea to use as much sunscreen coverage as you can get. I always wear the "Coppertone Water Babies" lotion and I never get burned. I find it to be true when I am wearing the 50 or the best suntan protection I can get that I have a tendency to tan. Drinking alot of water when you are out in the sun is a great idea too. We should always drink alot of water but especially when we put ourselves into situations where we might dehydrate. Make sure you wear light colored clothing in the sun because dark clothes absorb heat. Also wearing sun visors or sun glasses helps tremendously. As a general rule protect your skin from sun damage because having a pretty tan isn't that important anymore when you have cancer.
