I used to use the tanning bed (just in the summer) when I was a teen and early 20's. Now, I am 27 and don't tan. The thing is I am so pale and I want to be tan. I hate that self tanning stuff cause it stinks. Also,every time I have a weird looking mole or anything I am super paranoid about it being melanoma. I get skin checks every year. Does anyone think that the sun is bad? Can I get just a little like an hour on the weekend? Let me know what you think.

If you really want to tan outside, dont tan at 12:00-3:00 because the sun is at its worst at those times.Also, you can use those spray on tanners, get one from Cover Girl because it doesnt make you look orange.
Reply:I'm scared of skin cancer too. I am going to start using bronzer. it's healthier, and looks the same.
Reply:I think a little sun is okay and it's healthy. The sun helps with Vitamin D. If you get regular check ups, then I really don't see the problem with an hour on the weekend.

sun provides us with vitamin D...apart from the one hour weekend session, i suggest you also go for early morning sun rendezvous..

Reply:The sun can be both harmful and good for the skin. I think it was a wise decision to stop tanning. If you haven't had skin cancer yet, I would just continue using sun screen every day, or use make up with SPF. I little bit on the weekends is not bad for you at all, your skin needs a little sun to stay healthy, just make sure not to over-do it.
Reply:A little sun is okay! just don't get burnt. a big risk factor for melanoma is a peeling sunburn. Just don't stay out long enough that your skin will peel and use lots of moisturizer.
Reply:Doctor Dean Odell has a radio talk show in San Francisco he is so paranoid about skin cancer he never sees the sun. So your skin is pale, you would make a big hit in Saigon the girls would do anything to have your pale skin. They have the most beautiful brown skin and don't like it. So be happy.

u shouldnt be getting sooo much sun, but some sun is healthy for you!
