Skin Cancer?

I just went though hell the past week waiting for the results of my mole biopsy...AND IT IS OK!!!

My question to you is, do you think it is really worth being tan now and risking skin cancer in the furture. Do you think about the dangers of tanning, or just think it won't happen to you when you are baking in the sun and/or tanning booth?

I just want to say to you people who fake and bake or sit in the sun unprotected for hours and hours like I did as a teenager (I'm now 26): It is NOT worth it. Trust me. Take care of your skin!

Skin Cancer?
Generally, the best way to get some sun is to just go about your job or daily routine normally in the daytime. Fake tans and long hours of baking in the sun are harmful and it's just NOT a natural thing to do. When you go against nature, a lot of problems arise. Most people are very ignorant to the dangers of attaining fake tans and baking in the sun and only come to realize the severity of it when they contract or develop some form of unfavorable results. It's not worth the risk.

Love the skin you're in, don't try too hard to change it and be something that you're not.

Good to know you're ok!
Reply:It's completely stupid to go and bake outside or in a tanning booth. I know so many people who don't think it will happen to them in a booth, but it can and it does.
Reply:Baking in the sun and tanning are very very dangerous. UV radiation causes the release of billions of damaging radicals and oxidants that lead to premature aging of the skin, DNA mutations in skin cells and cancer in many cases because the resources of immune system are not boundless. PLEASE PROTECT YOURSELVES!
Reply:I try to stay out of the sun ~ with the ozone depletion, on medications, it dosnt make any sense to get a tan ~

I agree, its not worth the risk !
Reply:I am VERY fair. I never tanned in the sun or in the booth. I still got sun burnt from time to time even with the sunscreen and hats. Last summer I had a stage 3 melanoma removed and since then we believe it has come back (doc appointment this week). It is never worth it to be darker to risk your life. You should be happy withthe color you are even ifthat's pale as a gohst! The fairer you are the higher your risk and the more you have to tan to get the look you want.
