My dog has a "skin tag" that has gotten so big, I need to know what to do.?

He has always had a black mole -like growth on the outer part of his chest...everyone assumes it is a nipple or skin tag. For 6 years it has looked the same, then 2 days ago it started swelling, and filling up with fluid. It is now the same color he is , brown, but as it continues to grow I can see the skin stretching so it will probably get lighter in color. Right now it is resembling a large acorn in every way, just no acorn hat, :) or a large brown grape. He is fixated on it now and licks it all the time. It looks gross, looks like it could be painful, and honestly I am afraid he might try to chew it off. How serious could this acorn be and is it a nipple, mole, what? He is a boxer rott mix, and I have noticed a few other spots that are small but black and fleshy kind of like this one used to be. Any advice would be great. Vet says 400 dollars to remove it, but I am a couple zeros shy so is there a home remedy? thanx much!

take him to the vet and have them look at hit because it could be a type of cancer or disease and you may want to take care of it before it gets worse
Reply:id take him to a diffrent vet because my vet removed something like that off my dog and charge around 80
Reply:Anything that changes like that can be a problem. You should make an appointment with the vet and have it taken care of. No home remedies for something like that.. A vet does NOT charge $400 to remove a skin tag, and does not charge $400 to remove a tumor.. If yours does, then he is ripping you off and it's time for a new vet.
Reply:Try phoning a local humane society and asking them for help. They may be able to give you the name of a Vet that will be cheaper or do you have an organisation like the PDSA (People's Dispensary for Sick Animals) that help people on low incomes get proper Vet Care. (Perhaps the local humane society will do it or know if there is one available)

Not sure how much $400 is in UK£'s but it seems expensive! He does need to see someone though so I hope you can get help soon. Good Luck!
Reply:I cannot understand why you are asking this question when it is OBVIOUS that poor dog is suffering and needs immediate treatment..Did you ever think before you got that dog that it might need medical treatment and to take out an insurance for just that?..If you love your dog then you'll find that money from somewhere..Dogs are not just for christmas..it's for life..I hate cruelty to animals
