Skin cancer?

I am only 20 years old but i have this mole on my upper rib cage right in the middle . I have had this mole since i was 15 i just woke up one day and it was there along with another mole that had apeard a couple inches over but that one apears to be normal. this mole that i am talking about is a dark purple mole and if you put pressure on it it will turn red. my grand mother died of melanoma cancer so it does run in the family. but it is almost as if when you push on the mole it will get smaller as if it is blood that is being pushed under the skin.i know i need to talkto adoctor about this but what do you think do you think it could be somthing else?

Since you have a family history and the moles just "appeared" it is suspicious - I'd go have it looked at - only a doctor and or biopsy can ease your worries. Call Monday so you can get on with a healthy life -





A- Asymmetry: Normal moles or freckles are completely symmetrical. If you were to draw a line through a normal spot, you would have two symmetrical halves. In cases of skin cancer, spots will not look the same on both sides.


B- Border: A mole or spot with blurry and/or jagged edges.


C- Color: A mole that is more than one hue is suspicious and needs to be evaluated by a doctor. Normal spots are usually one color. This can include lightening or darkening of the mole.


D- Diameter: If it is larger than a pencil eraser (about 1/4 inch or 6mm), it needs to be examined by a doctor. This is includes areas that do not have any other abnormalities (color, border, asymmetry).


E- Elevation: Elevation means the mole is raised above the surface and has an uneven surface.

If you cannot afford the doctor how about a clinic in your town.
Reply:See your doctor immediately and get that removed! It seems that your suspected melanoma might be going into Stage 4 (metastasis = R.I.P.) What your doctor is going to do is remove that whole mole for analysis to see if it has broken through basal lamina (Punch Biopsy Test). Also, you can tell if your mole is malignant if it loses that round shape. If it's cancer, don't tell your insurance company that you had a hereditary disorder or they will screw you over. Lastly, if it's cancer, you better hope that you have alot of $$$ for flexibility (just in case your insurance company decides not to cover you). Good luck!
