Ok, so my cousin has a mole on her face, on the left side of her mouth. Its dark brown, and raised. It's not small, but not huge. Smaller than the cancer size which is a pencil eraser. And she says it occasionally itches. It's not a perfect circle up close, but from other people's views, it seems circular. She's had this mole since she was little. She's the same age as me (13) and she is asian (mongolian to be exact) so is it skin cancer?
Just cause a mole is itchy, is it skin cancer?
My father went to check up on a mole sometime back, the doctor his mole is not cancerous, because their is a hair growing out of it. Thats probably the 1st thing u should check for.
Then, you should see if your cousin's family line has history of cancer, if so its best, he/she goes to a doctor. Hope that helps,
Good Luck
Reply:Always a good idea to get suspicious moles checked out......
Reply:No it should not be skin cancer.. skin cancer should be when your skin itches or have strange white spots appearing all over your body or somewhere.. maybe the mole is just normally itchy?
Maybe see a skin specialist..
Reply:Cancer is usually not symetrical, the edges are very irregular. It's not likly that it is skin cancer since it's been there since she was little. Going to tthe Doctor is the only way to kow for sure.
Reply:has the mole grown any since you guys were young? has she noticed anything new about it lately? if not then i doubt it's anything to worry about. tell her to go to her dr.
Reply:Not necessarily. It could be itchy because its exposed to sun or its dry skin.
but it should be looked at by a doctor. The only way to be sure its not cancer is to have it removed and looked at by a pathologist.
If its not a cancer, keeping sunscreen on it will help keep it from becoming something bad.
Reply:It's not necessarily cancer, but if in doubt, ask a doctor.
