Im fair skinned, light eyed, have had unusual moles in the past checked out for melanoma but was ok, i do have a lot of moles.. BUT there seems to have appeared a VERY unusual mole under my breast. its pretty big, has different shades, and uneven edges.. so pretty sure thats not good. but how can it be that it appears i a place that has never seen the sun??
Is it possible to have skin cancer where the sun never hits?
Please have the mole checked out asap. And yes, skin melanomas can still grow in areas that don't get to see the sun. This is because the sun's UV rays can penetrate through solid surfaces as well, such as umbrellas, window planes, clothes.
Also, not all skin cancers are caused by direct/ indirect exposure to UV rays. Some possible factors could be diet, lifestyle, adverse habits such as smoking and excessive drinking. Some causes are unknown entirely.
Therefore, the question you should be asking right now isn't really what's caused the mole to go irregular, but really what next. See a dermatologist/ the same dr u'd gone to to check out your other moles asap.
take care.
