Well, in the next 2 weeks I have an appointment at the dermatologist, he is checking on some moles I have on the back of my head. Skin cancer doesn't run through our family, but moles do, lol. I just recently started becoming interested in a small bump on my left arm. About the size of a tip of a dull pencil. It looks to be completely round, however there is a hair growing through it. Its about the same color of my skin, maybe a little redder. It has a waxxy complexion. I am only 15, should I be concerned? My complexion is somewhat fare, but not necessarily "white".
Is it possible that I have skin cancer at age 15?
It is hard to tell from your description, besides only an examination by a doctor can make the determination whether you have cancer or not. But to answer your question in general, yes it is possible to have skin cancer at age 15. Seventeen Magazine did an article about teenagers and skin cancer. There is a 16 year old girl who developed melanoma and has a My Space website devoted to skin cancer in teens:

Reply:you can get skin cancer at any age. just wait and see what your dematologist says then you will know for sure.
Reply:When you have your appt. with the dermatologist, show him or her the bump on your arm as well. It doesn't sound like anything to worry about, but it's worth showing to the doctor.
Reply:You are doing the right thing by seeing a dermatologist. The first thing he or she will do is examine your whole body for any moles, lesions or warts. The most dangerous spots for cancerous growth are the areas you cannot see that are exposed to the sun ( like the back of your head, neck and shoulders. I suppose it is possible to have skin cancer at 15 but not very likely.
If you have a lot of questions about certain areas, write yourself a note and bring it to the appoinment. That way, you won't forget to ask about them.
Good luck
Reply:it is possible - let the doctor check them out.
