Have had male hamster for over a month and today found black spot under fur on back. Has been scratching a lot since we got him. Spot is raised much like a mole on human skin. Time to go to the vet? Seems to be healthy in every other way. Please advise if your hamster has ever had this. Thank you much :)

I don't have experience w/ hamsters but I have pet rats. I've actually brought my pet rat to see a vet bcuz she had a tumor. I'd make an appt w/ a vet, but make sure its a vet w/ knowledge of small animals such as rats, hamsters etc. Some vets don't chg very much for small animals but ask first how much they would chg. My nice vet chgd me only $10.00 to put my pet rat to sleep. By the way, the girl who answered your ? saying ur crazy-she is very rude and mean spirited to reply like that. Good luck!

Reply:hes fine. just a birth mark. if hes eating fine and drinking and having plenty of exercise, you have nothing to worry about.
