How can you tell if a mole is skin cancer?

If it grows at all, or if it's two different colors, you should probably have it checked out.

How can you tell if a mole is skin cancer?
You can't without a biopsy. If a mole starts growing, becomes red, or is new and unusual, see a doctor.
Reply:get it tested if you're worried. there are things like irregualr shape, colors, but there is no way to be postitive unless it's tested by a doc
Reply:it is deformed and it has no symetry!
Reply:I would like to know too becasue I notice a red dot in my skin which I never notice until 5 months ago.
Reply:If it is not uniform in colour, asymmetrical, bigger than the eraser on the back of a pencil, or bleeds and hurts.
Reply:You can't. You need to go to your doctor and have them look at it. If he then suspects skin cancer they will refer you onto a specialist.
Reply:If it is in an irregular form and not circular check with a doctor.

Check a dermatologist every year! If my mom didnt go to the dermatologist, she would prolly have cancer =[[ be careful always check wit a doctor!
Reply:If it has increased in size, color change, or irregular in shape ( like the border of the mole), then something could be going on. However, the best way to know if a mole is cancerous is to see a doctor.
Reply:They will have irregular borders, not be perfectly round. They change over time (color, shape). Sometimes they will bleed. The best advice, however, is that if you are concerned about a mole, see your doctor. You should be doing regular mole checks with yourself a couple of times a year and if you see changes, see a doctor.
Reply:If it's black, irregular shaped. and if its shape has changed!

I hope you have none of these symptoms!

If so, go to a doctor immediatly!
Reply:See a dermatologist. You can't tell by looking at it; it must be biopsied.
Reply:My daughter's doctor told her that he removes all of his kid's moles to be on the safe-side. Then you will have no need to worry about them.
Reply:Sometimes you can tell by the way it looks, but your doctor will know for sure. Here's a website I found: http://www.skinsite.com/info_melanoma.ht...

Hope this helps!
Reply:if its just a plain mole i wouldnt worry but if at any stage or time it changes shape, size or colour contact your gp who will refer you to a specialist who will take a sample from the mole and test it for any cancerous cells. don't let the mole be in the direct of sunlight as this can make it itchy.

good luck...
