I had a small two-toned mole that was raised on my lower back, and it recently started itching and peeling, and the raised part just peeled right off today. So now the mole is flat, not raised, and I noticed that the two shades of brown are not as visible anymore as it was when it was raised. Wheras before it was half dark brown, half light brown, now it's mostly all dark brown except the bottom part that is a lighter shade of brown. Is this normal?
Mole/Skin Cancer?
You should see a dermatologist, to get their take. Moles are supposed to be one color and symetric. Just because it's flat doesn't mean it's nothing to worry about. It very well could be nothing, but you should have it looked at.
Reply:That is not normal...make a dermatologist appointment ASAP!
Reply:Su_gru is right, but the need for urgency is overrated. I suggest calling your family physician, setting up and appointment, and having them take a look at it. Most frequently they can freeze it off with little or no problems in their office. I had one frozen off of my nose a couple of years ago, because it had changed in color and size. Regardless of whether yours is cancerous or not, you'll want to have it removed so you don't have to worry about it.
