Your Guide to Skin Tags

As we grow older, different growths and spots start coming out of skin. Skin tags are one such product of aging. The exact cause of skin tags is not known. They are also known as Acrochordons.

How Do They Look?

Skin tags look like small growths hanging with a stalk. These fleshy bumps are ugly in appearance and cause more of mental discomfort than physical.

Where Do They Appear?

Skin tags appear at different places such as neckline, below the breasts, underarms, and groin. They may also appear at different sites on the body.

Size:

They normally form in cluster of small tags of about 0.1 cm to big ones measuring up to 1 cm.

Removal:

If you can live with them, then it is ok. Otherwise, consult your doctor, who will remove them by one of the following methods.

* Surgically cutting them

* By freezing them

* By electro surgery

* By tying a suture around the stalk

The tag removal does not cause scar problem and the healing is over in a day or two. If you have keloid-forming tendency, your doctor may not remove the tags.

Reply:i think its a wart. you can get rid of it through laser.
Reply:Haven't tried it, but i've head you can paint it with clear nail polish for several days and it will dry up and fall off.
Reply:I had a skin tag like that on my neck too. My mom is a nurse and she brought home a pair of surgical scissors(because they are sterile), cleaned my skin tag with alcohol, and cut it off. It bled for a few minutes, but then it quit and I have never had one come back. You could probably cut it off if you know someone who can get you a pair of surgical scissors.
Reply:A safe, natural method is garlic. A fresh, small sliver placed on the tag and covered with a bandaid. Do this a night and remove in the morning. Repeat until the tag falls off. Usually takes less than 5 days.

Garlic is strong, so keep it off the surrounding skin.
