It has started from each ear and moves across my jaw bone, it looks like dirt, or little patches of tan skin, also I noticed I have gotten several very tiny moles on my neck? any ideas what this is on my face?

Whats happening? I have had some discoloration of my skin on both sides of my face.?
It sounds like Melasma. However, as there are many types of skin disorders, it is best that you get a qualified and professional diagnosis. You have to make sure that you get the appropriate treatment. Do not self medicate without knowing what is truly the case.
Reply:if you are on birth control pills or have recently or are pregnant

Reply:Sounds like a vampire bit you. Better get a doctor to look at it. Or call ghost busters.
Reply:Read this and see if any of this applies to you:

In women during pregnancy and while taking birth control pills, hormones activate the melanocytes in the skin and produce more of melanin-the skin color. You will therefore get the colored patches on the facial skin.

Protect your skin from sun as much as possible. The sun is activating factor for melanin. If you protect your skin from sun, you will save lot of damage to skin including keeping these colored patches away.

If you have added birth control of any kind or are pregnant this could be your answer.

Check with your dermatolgist, they will be able to help you..
Reply:Go to Mayo Clinic.Com and look under skin conditions. I find great info there
Reply:Definitely sounds like Melasma as others have pointed out. Over the counter remedies are Ambi Skin Cream and good ole Hydrogen Peroxide.

I don't use the Hydrogen Peroxide full strength. Wet a cotton round and pour a little HP and wipe your skin.
Reply:It's a naturally ocurring phenomenon when you get older. My step sister is in her mid-50's and she has them. They started to appear like in her late-40's. Just think of them as odd looking age spots.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the antihistamines she was taking around that time?

Well there are certain chemotherapeutic agents that causes hyperpigmentation.

And if they are brown like my sister's are, it could be caused from make-up especially if it contains either arsenic or mercury. These chemicals are known to cause brown pigmentation. However, I am not sure what chemicals are normally used in make-up. There is a controversy over some vaccines that have mercury.

As long as they aren't reddish or bluish or purplish, or they aren't thick, raised patches, or flaky skin, or itchy, you should be safe. If however, you find any large mole, especially the size of a dime, have it checked. That's an early since of skin cancer. You haven't been out in the sun alot lately have you?
