Removing a Mole, and the dangers and long term affects of skin cancer?

Hi there,

Thank you all in advance for your help.

I live in England and have recently read about mole removals and cancer. I have a mole (not the 'flat' ones but the sort of '3D' ones more of a beauty spot/birthmark) on my head and most times its covered by my hair. I just wanted more information on the possibility of removing this? Does the method of tying something around it so as to starve it of oxygen/blood work? Is it dangerous? Also if (God forbid) it turns out i have got cancer then how serious is this? What can be done?

Regards

I've had several moles removed. It was an outpatient, in the doctor's office kind of thing. They put anesthesic on the area and cut out the mole, but cauterized it. It didn't hurt. It was then biopsied, and luckily was not cancerous. If it is, the sooner you find out the better. Your doctor can tell you your options.

This will not affect the flow of blood because of their depth, even at large to take over the flow of blood back to the heart. This type of surgery is very effective.

Although laser hair removal have been tried with moles, it is usually the method of choice for most deep moles because the laser light does not penetrate enough.
